Collegiate Challenge AKA One of the Awesomest Experiences of Your College Career…

For realz though. Even if you are a newbie, many of us couldn’t even hammer a nail in straight and by the end of the trip we became pros :P Just be prepared to work hard, dance, sing, enjoy the great outdoors, have a cuddle puddle, learn how to use new tools, stay up uber late and wake up uber early, and bond…Oh & withdrawal symptoms from all the good vibes after a week of being surrounded by 25 Habitaters :)

We are going to Hattiesburg, Mississippi from Sunday, December 16 – Saturday, December 22 and we have 25 spots available. The cost has not been finalized but we can expect it to be around $150 (this includes the registration fee). The cost provides for our accommodations, lunches for days on the build site and one dinner. Over the course of the week we will work on the finishing touches for the H4H Hattiesburg affiliate’s 60th home. Typically we build for four days and have 1 free day to explore. On another note, if you’re unable to participate in Collegiate Challenge there is always our annual fundraising event known as Shack-A-Thon!

 Shack-A-Thon (SAT)

Is a three day fundraising event with live music, food, and fun. Student organizations design and build shacks on Memory Mall and compete for prizes such as Fan Favorite, Most Money Raised, Most Votes, etc. This year, building will begin on Sunday, February 17th and the shacks will remain on Memory Mall until Thursday, February 21st.

If you would like to become a part of the SAT committee to coordinate the event OR if you’re a member of a student organization that is interested in participating please contact events@habitatucf.com. You can also click the Shack-A-Thon 2013 tab at the top of this page for more information about Shack-A-Thon. The Shack-A-Thon planning committee meeting dates are as follows:

November 6, 2012 at 6:15pm in the Student Union room 221

November 27, 2012 at 9:00pm in the Student Union room 225

January 16, 2013 at TBA

February 6, 2013 at TBA
