What is a Build?

A Build allows you to immerse yourself in the process of becoming a homeowner through Habitat. We join homeowners in any part of the construction or renovation process during Builds.

Builds open many people’s eyes as to what it takes to provide shelter for someone. Don’t worry if you have zero construction experience; everyone is welcome. Habitat for Humanity is a place where you can learn new skills while helping the community.

Join us every other Saturday of each month; we carpool from the University of Central Florida campus. In order to attend Builds, you’ll need to become a member of Habitat at UCF.

Our Builds

During builds, volunteers get involved in the construction, repair, or demolition process. We work with low-income families in Florida to get people reliable housing.

Our Restores

Restores are home improvement stores, locations and donation centers. We’ll normally volunteer at them and help with whatever tasks they need to have completed.

Our Meetings

During our club meetings, we discuss information pertaining to the club and share dates for builds, socials, and other events. Sign up for builds at our meetings.

What is a Restore?

We volunteer occasionally with the ReStore program of Habitat for Humanity. These stores sell used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and other home goods at discounted prices. Anyone is welcome to use them. The proceeds are used to help build strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter in communities around us.

Tasks we are involved with usually include moving items in the store, organizing various materials and goods into their proper places within the store, and anything else that helps the store operate more efficiently. Sometimes we help build things like a shelf to improve organization in the store or we get to do some demolition to get rid of materials that are too damaged to sell.

Carpools are provided whenever we have a volunteer event. If you’d like to participate in our restores, you’re always welcome! The only requirement is becoming a member.

ReStore Program

Help us move items in the store, organize various materials and goods or with any other tasks that will help the store operate more efficiently.

In order to be able to participate in the ReStore program, you must become a member.

Our Meetings

Join us at our meetings and becoming an active member in our community, find us on social media to get to know your fellow Habitat members, and sign up for builds to make an impact in the Greater Orlando area.

Meetings: when and where?

Every other Wednesday, 7:30 – 8:30 pm in room 218AB of the Student Union, starting January 15th. Check our events page for the full schedule.

How often do we host builds?

We will typically have about two a month. Come to our meetings for more information and to sign up to join.

Are builds always on Saturday?
We try to schedule at least one Friday to build each semester to accommodate for members who work on weekends; we will let members know during meetings or through GroupMe if we have any weekday events.
What happens if I can't attend a meeting?
We keep track of attendance in order to reward members who are actively participating, but attendance is not necessary. There is not a mandatory attendance requirement in order to maintain membership. All of the important dates and PowerPoints will be posted on our social media and on our website. Those who come to meetings have priority when it comes to signing up for builds, but if there are extra spots available, we will post it on the Facebook page. Bi-weekly emails will be sent with all the important information you need!
